Each chip is one quarter's change from the same quarter a year earlier. The mark in its middle is zero: a fill to the right of it is a rise and a fill to the left a fall. A longer, brighter fill is a larger change, in five steps up to 12.5 and over. Every chip prints its figure and sign.

Understanding treasury exchange rates
Where it stands today
The largest change over a year was Turkish lira, up 17.9%, in the third quarter of 2026.
What do the lines of this page measure?
The Treasury Reporting Rates of Exchange are, in the words of Fiscal Data, the U.S. government's "authoritative exchange rates", which keep foreign currency amounts and their US dollar equivalents consistent across the reporting that federal agencies do. Each rate here is the amount of the currency for one US dollar on the last day of a quarter. Treasury publishes rates for many more countries and currencies than this page shows. The page lists a selection, the major currencies and those of the main economies of Europe, Asia, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa.

What do these figures leave out, and how are they cited?Limits, dates and how to cite
What this number cannot tell you
- These are reporting rates for federal agencies, not market prices. Fiscal Data lists exceptions to their use, among them conversions of one foreign currency into another.
- Treasury amends a rate during a quarter when current rates deviate from it by 10 percent or more. An amendment is a separate line with a later effective date. This page shows only the rate dated the last day of each quarter and leaves the amendments out.
- Treasury has renamed some currencies over the years (the pound was "United Kingdom-Pound Sterling" from 2015 to 2019, the Mexican peso "Mexico-New Peso" to 2018). Where a currency's history sits under an earlier name, this page joins it to the current one; a rate of a currency before its redenomination (the Turkish lira and the Romanian leu before 2005) is not joined.
- Each rate is the amount of the currency for one US dollar. Treasury publishes each rate to its own number of decimals, and this page prints each currency to the number its recent rates have; a few older rates of the South Korean won and the Indonesian rupiah have more places, and the page rounds those when it prints them (the file holds them as Treasury published them). The currencies are in different units, so only the changes, not the values, are comparable across the page.
- The changes and the ranks are ours, worked out from the rates Treasury publishes; a change is in percent.
